Courts bans valentine celebration

There won't be valentine celebration in public in Pakistan, as a Pakistani court ruled against the celebration in public places across the country.

Speaking to newsmen after the ruling,
the Petitioner, Abdul Waheed further disclosed that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) also ordered local media not to publicise anything related to the day, which Majid Bhatti, a lawyer at the IHC confirmed.

The ban, which has sparked controversy, came after President Mamnoon Hussain, asked citizens of the country not to celebrate because it was not a Muslim festival, but a Western tradition.
“Valentine’s Day has no connection with our culture and it should be avoided’’ he said.
