'I've got Aids!' Heroin addict smeared blood and excrement on hospital guards and threatened police with dirty syringe

A heroin addict smeared blood and excrement on hospital guards before threatening cops with a dirty syringe while claiming he had Aids and hepatitis.
Adam Fairclough pulled a bent needle from his pocket and pointed it at officers who found him surrounded by Ferrero Rocher in WH Smith's.
The “professional thief” had been arrested after failing to appear in court for a series of assault charges - including the shocking incident at Alder Hey children’s hospital .
The drama took place in October after officers spotted him in a street, according to the Liverpool Echo .

They approached the 20-year-old, arresting him and placing him in handcuffs after finding a syringe on him during an initial search.
But he refused to enter a police vehicle calmly, struggling inside and using his foot to prevent the door being closed.
Christopher Taylor, prosecuting, said: “At this point he reached into a left jacket pocket and produced another syringe with a bent needle and he held it with his right hand and twisted his body round.”
Pointing the needle at officers he told them he had Hepatitis C, leading one of them to later say “it made me fearful that if I was stabbed not only could I be infected with Hepatitis C, but maybe with other viruses”.
He dropped the syringe after negotiations when police back-up arrived, and it was also discovered he had a razor blade in his possession - said to have been used to cut up drugs.
Following his arrest he was hauled before Liverpool Magistrates’ Court and handed a five month jail sentence for four assaults - including the Alder Hey incident.
The court heard how security guards approached him after reports he had been acting suspiciously in the hospital’s WH Smith outlet on March 31.

Finding him on the floor surrounded by Ferrero Rocher trays, they escorted him from the shop before he bit into his thumb, drawing blood, and began trying to rub it on the guards.
In the following scuffle he smeared them with blood and excrement while screaming: “I have got Aids, I have got hepatitis.”Fairclough, of Railton Road in Norris Green, was jailed for 10 weeks for two charges of possession of a bladed article – in relation to the threats against the police officers. That will be added to the remainder of his assault sentence.
Julian Linskill, defending him at Liverpool Crown Court today, said his client regretted the incident and had pleaded guilty to both matters.
Sentencing Fairclough, who has been addicted to heroin since the age of 13, Judge Anil Murray said: “That [the syringe threat] must be one of the worst nightmares of any officer, being confronted by a dirty needle.
"They were just doing their jobs and you have threatened them.”
