A man decided to end his life after catching his beloved wife in the arms of another man, in their matrimonial bed.

According to reports, the man identified as Tapiwa Shumba, had walked into his home in Mwenezi, Zimbabwe, unexpectedly (he had travelled and was expected to return a day after he did), only to find his wife in bed with a man identified as Zelas.

Late Shumba had immediately walked out, found a rope and hanged himself to death. His wife, Precious Shumba, who was left feeling guilty about her husband's sudden death also hanged herself to death out of shame.

Here's what happened according to one of the neighbours:

“On his return he knocked at the bedroom hut but Precious took long to open. He sensed something was amiss then broke down the door. When he got inside, he found his wife in the company of Zelas who out of panic tried to hang himself.”

Shumba reportedly stopped Zelas from killing himself, before he went ahead to take his own life.

“When she failed to explain what was happening, he just walked out of the hut leaving her alone since Zelas had also fled. Shumba was found hanging dead the following day and to everyone’s surprise, some villagers also found Precious hanging as well later during the day.”

Late Shumba’s father Fanny Matambe, said:

"The family is still shocked at why Tapiwa and his wife decided to take their lives. They should have solved the problem instead of what they did and now their children are orphans.”

Zelas has since fled the village since the incident.
