Ronaldo, Messi and Griezmann to fight for another top award

After winning the 2016 FIFA Ballon d'Or award, Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo will go into another serious battle for the 2016 FIFA inaugural best footballer award which will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 in Zurich.
The Portuguese international has been said to be the favorite for the award considering his success in the year 2016, where he helped Real Madrid to win the 2016 UEFA Champions League and also captaining Portugal to Euro 2016 glory.

At the ceremony, it was said that FIFA will also name the best women's player, and the best coaches in men's and women's football.

Leicester City gaffer Claudio Ranieri, who steered the club to the 2016 Premier League title, is up for best coach while his rivals for the award are Portugal's Euro 2016 winning boss Fernando Santos and Zinedine Zidane who steered Real Madrid to 2016 Champions League triumph.
Meanwhile, voting for the awards is by national team captains and coaches, selected journalists and for the first time, an online poll of fans.
The FIFA player award is different from the Ballon d'or which Cristiano Ronaldo won the 2016 edition.
